This pendant's design began as a doodle at the side of a notebook prior to making its way into a sketchbook. This locket has four interior tabs designed to hold a picture, which stay hidden with a shallow silver dome. The locket clicks shut with three claws along the top that latch into the base. To accentuate it, a line holding an onyx sweeps around its side, connecting to the top and bottom. It is supported on a chain with a pattern of silver balls along its length.
It was a challenge deciding how the hinges would connect to the piece; I did not want them to be obvious, but I did not want to try to blend them into the circle and leave them looking like an afterthought. The sheet elements at the locket's side were designed as a way to properly incorporate the hinges into the piece without hiding or emphasizing them.
